The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)® certification recognizes professionals with specialized knowledge and experience in project risk management. It demonstrates your ability to identify uncertainty, assess threats and opportunities, develop effective risk responses, engage stakeholders, and monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle.

This course is designed for project managers, risk managers, program managers, functional managers, business analysts, consultants, and other professionals who identify, assess, manage, or communicate project risk. It is also valuable for experienced project professionals who want to strengthen their risk management capabilities or pursue the PMI-RMP® certification.

This course includes 30 hours of live, instructor-led risk management education.

The course provides the 30 hours of project risk management education required for candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Candidates with a high school or secondary school diploma are currently required to document 40 hours of project risk management education, so they may need additional qualifying education before applying.

Participants receive structured exam preparation, practitioner-led instruction, opportunities to ask questions, course materials, application guidance, and post-course support designed to reinforce learning and strengthen exam readiness.

No. The two post-course support sessions are provided in addition to the 30 instructional hours. They are designed to help participants reinforce key concepts, address questions, and continue preparing after the formal course concludes.

Yes. Participants who complete the course will receive documentation confirming their participation and the applicable project risk management education hours.

No. The PMI-RMP® certification exam fee is paid separately and directly to PMI when you submit or complete your certification application.

No. PMI membership is not included in the base course tuition.

PMI membership may be offered separately if available, but it is not required as part of this course.

No. You do not need to be a PMI member to take this course.

However, students may wish to consider PMI membership for access to PMI resources, member pricing, and broader professional benefits.

PMI currently provides three eligibility pathways:

• High school or secondary school diploma: 36 months of project risk management experience within the past five years and 40 hours of project risk management education.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher: 24 months of project risk management experience within the past five years and 30 hours of project risk management education.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a GAC-accredited program: 12 months of project risk management experience within the past five years and 30 hours of project risk management education.

We understand that life happens. If you miss a session, we will work with you on available options. In most cases, this includes joining a future offering to make up the missed content, in line with our current policies.

Because this is an interactive, instructor-led course, attendance is important. Contact The Snyder Center as soon as possible if you expect to miss a session so we can discuss available options. Make-up arrangements are not guaranteed and depend on the course schedule and circumstances.

No. The course is appropriate for professionals who manage project risk as part of a broader role, even if their title is not Risk Manager. Project managers, program managers, team leads, consultants, business analysts, and functional leaders may all benefit from specialized risk management education.

Yes. The Snyder Center provides guidance to help you understand the application process, organize your experience, and document your project risk management education. However, each participant is responsible for the accuracy and submission of their own application, and PMI makes all eligibility and approval decisions.
